# Cim: diarrhea, vet visit 2026-10-13 **Patient:** Cim (Cimarron), small dog. Housemate: Churro (no symptoms). **Reason for visit:** Diarrhea that has progressed from soft to fully liquid over about 12 hours. ## Timeline | When | What happened | |---|---| | Sat 10/11 | Spent the day at doggy daycare (exercise and socialization). Seemed fine afterward. | | Mon 10/12, ~6:00pm | Ate usual dinner (homemade Pack Stew). Both dogs eat the same food. | | Mon ~8:00pm | Walk: stool **halfway between normal and liquid**. | | Mon ~10:00-10:30pm | Short bedtime pee walk. | | Tue 10/13, ~12:00am | Needed to go out. **Liquid stool, "shooting," medium brown.** | | Tue ~2:00am | Needed to go out again. **Liquid stool, same.** | | Tue ~8:30am | Morning walk. **Liquid stool, same.** | **Total so far:** 1 soft stool plus 3 fully liquid stools, with night-time urgency. | Tue, this morning (after the 8:30am walk) | **Breakfast:** Churro got his usual. Cim got a slightly smaller portion of his usual, mixed with a bit of plain oatmeal. | ## This morning - **Appetite:** seems okay. - **Energy:** a little lethargic or quiet. Hard to judge because he is never very enthusiastic in the mornings anyway. ## Other notes - Vomiting: he tried to upchuck a little bit like if he ate something bad that needed to come up, but I didn’t see anything come up, it was just a little foamy liquid ## Possible causes to mention - **Daycare exposure** on Saturday (about 2.5 days before onset). Don't know whether other dogs there were sick. - **Scavenging:** both dogs regularly eat bits of things off the ground on walks. I can't always stop them. Regurgitating them is common and usually doesn't bother me, but this episode feels different. - **Diet:** homemade Pack Stew, same for both dogs. Churro is fine, so less likely, but worth mentioning. ## Background - Both dogs are up to date on vaccines (required by daycare). Another vaccine is due around December, possibly Bordetella. - Clean vet checkup in Sept 2026. Mild, low-grade luxating patella. ______ ## Questions for the vet 1. Does he need a stool sample or fecal test, or any bloodwork? 2. Is he dehydrated? What should I watch for at home? 3. Should I feed anything specific or fast him? For how long? 4. Is anything safe to give him at home, or should I give nothing without your OK? 5. Could this be contagious to Churro or other dogs? Should I keep them out of daycare? 6. What signs mean I should come back or go to the ER? ## Notes from the visit -
